2008 Itinerary

Subject to change… but here it is, without further ado:

December 1-2 — San Francisco / Tokyo / Hong Kong

After a LONG flight from San Francisco (leaving at 10:50am on December 1st, then with a 3-hour layover in Tokyo), we finally arrive in Hong Kong at 10:50pm local time on December 2nd.  We then head directly to the InterContinental Hotel Hong Kong to get some sleep!

December 3 — Hong Kong / Macau

During the day, we’ll explore Hong Kong and enjoy some Cantonese cuisine (including dim sum!).  Then, after dinner, we’ll take a short 45 minute ferry ride over to Macau and check-in at the Hotel Lisboa.

December 4 — Macau

We’ll spend most of the day gambling at some of the old and new casinos in Macau, while taking breaks to walk around, see some sights, and — of course — eat.

December 5 — Macau / Hong Kong / Bali

First thing in the morning, we’ll take the ferry back to Hong Kong and depart at 10:30am to Bali, with a short layover in Singapore.  We arrive at Denpasar, Bali at 7:10pm local time, and head directly to Padang Bai — the site of our first scuba diving.

December 6 — Padang Bai, Bali

We’ll spend the day diving — 2 dives during the day, and 1 at night.  Hope we remember what we’re doing!

December 7 — Padang Bai / Tulamben / Ubud

In the morning, we take a short drive to Tulamben where we’ll have 2 more dives to complete our Advanced Open Water certification.  Then, that afternoon, we’ll head to Ubud and check-in at the Komaneka Resort.

December 8-9 — Ubud

We’ll spend two full days in Ubud, the cultural center of Bali.  In addition to relaxing, we’ll explore the local area and see some monkeys (macaques) in the Monkey Forest!

December 10 — Ubud / Kuta

On Wednesday, December 10th, we travel from Ubud to Kuta, the main beach area in southern Bali, where we’ll stay at the Hard Rock Hotel.

December 11-13 — Kuta

We’ll spend 3 days in Kuta, enjoying the beach, the pool, and more scuba diving.

December 14-15 — Kuta / Denpasar / Seoul / San Francisco

After spending most of the day of the 14th at the beach, we depart from Denpasar at 8:05pm local time.  After a short layover in Singapore, we arrive in Seoul at 7:05am local time on December 15th.  With an 8-hour layover in Seoul, we may make a quick trip out from the airport to see the city and have some lunch.  We then depart from Seoul at 3:05pm, arriving back in San Francisco at 8:03am that same day.  (Gotta love the International Date Line!)
